Penguin Timer
Welcome to Penguin Timer!
Penguin Timer is a very easy to use application that has only one aim:
With Penguin Timer you can easily store up to three different times for differenst sorts of tea. After you start the application you can choose your favourite tea and the cute little penguin will start counting the time until you tea is ready. So you need only two taps to start timing.
But wait! There’s more!
Why use two taps when you could do the same with only ONE tap?
If you primarily just drink one sort of tea you can enable the quickstart-feature in the settings to automagically start the timer with the first tea selected once you start the app.
If you ever wish to stop a timing before it’s finished, for example because you don’t want to use the quickstart-timer just this time around, simply tap on the little tea-mug and the Penguin will release your tea at once.
Settings
Tea-Name and -Time
In the first 3 rows in the settings you can easily enter a name for your tea as well as the time it needs until it’s ready (in seconds). When the application starts these three names will be shown as button-labels. If you press one of them the according time is set as the tea-time.
Quickstart-Timer
If you enable the Quickstart-Timer the Penguin will use the first tea you entered in the settings. After it is finished counting the time, the usual startup-requester is shown. To disable the Quickstart-Timer again just wait for the time to run out or touch the mug to stop the timer at once. Either will lead you to the requester and give you access to the settings.
Disable Sleep
If your tea-time is set to a greater value than your auto-shut-off-timer in your iPhone/iPod the device will shut-off itself regardless of wether the app is running or not. This will of course hinder the Penguin to tell you when your tea is ready. So, just set this switch to on to prevent the iPod/iPhone from going to sleep.
In order to take effect you need to restart the application once you made changes to this setting.
Alarm-Sound
Choose wether you want to here the alarm sound once the time is up or not.
Time-Ticking
If you want to hear that the timer is still counting you can enable a ticking noise while time is slowly running out..just like a real kitchen timer would do.
